The Surprises That Await You Many people come back to their cottage with a sense of excitement and apprehension of facing the unknown. The unknown comes in a variety of shapes and sizes: a burst pipe and a couple inches of water covering the floor, a family of racoons who are not paying rent, or the loss of several bottles of liquor and a broken back door. Return to your cottage each year with more joy and less trepidation by following the closing tips in our Closing chapter.Associations Many camps belong to an association that set the days in which you can live at your camp, when the water is turned on (and off), or even other utilities. One great thing about associations is many of them have opening days which groups of people put in all the docks or help take down all the plywood from the windows. If you don't have a day like this, talk to your neighbors about any interest in creating one. As a group, you may have better leverage (and possible discounts) with garbage, recycling, lawn services and or even talking to the town about a speed limit or street lights. <<HOME NEXT >> |
